2019 Highlights
STEM Education Day at the Capitol was held on Tuesday, April 9.
- In cooperation with SC Future Minds, the SC STEM Educator of the Year program was launched, naming Warren Wise as the inaugural winner.
- New this year was an expanded presence of student groups who set up displays on the East Lawn.
- Following the press conference invited guests that included VIPs and the student groups were invited to a casual box luncheon at Edventure.
- Over 100 guests attended.
2018 Highlights
STEM Education Day at the Capitol was held on March 17th
- The day began with a gathering in the lobby of the Statehouse for the first ever STEM Education Day at the State Capitol.
- Immediately following, guests were invited to a luncheon to share stories of STEM success and good fellowship.
- During a press conference, special guests Representative Sylleste Davis, Superintendent Molly Spearman, and others from the SC Department of Commerce, SC Education Oversight Committee, and others recognized outstanding programs in the state.
- SCCMS announced a new grant opportunity to support the development and implementation of new classroom projects. Regional Growing in STEM Grant Awardees: Alma Elementary School, Five Oaks Academy, North Springs Elementary, Scranton Elementary STEM Academy, and St. Gregory the Great Catholic School
